We're looking for committed volunteers and subject-matter experts who care deeply about transparency in public infrastructure. Review the roles below and follow the steps to submit your application.

Ambassador

Who we're looking for

  • Community-minded volunteers who can serve as the point person for a country or chapter.
  • Organized and responsive, comfortable coordinating with experts and local volunteers.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to non-partisan, evidence-based reporting.

Qualifications (required)

  • 18 years or older.
  • Comfortable reading and writing in English.
  • Stable internet access and a device for coordinating with the OVOVTEC team.

Qualifications (preferred)

  • Prior experience in community organizing, youth leadership, or civic engagement.
  • Familiarity with public infrastructure issues in your country or local area.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers or managing small projects.

Short essay questions

Please prepare short answers (150–300 words each) to the following:

  • Why do you want to serve as an OVOVTEC Ambassador for your country or chapter?
  • Describe a time when you helped organize or support a community effort. What was your role and what did you learn?
  • What do you see as the biggest challenges to transparency in public infrastructure where you live?

How to apply

  • Include your full name, country, city/region, and a brief one-paragraph bio.
  • Answer the short essay questions above in a document.
  • Save everything together as a single PDF file (for example: lastname-ambassador.pdf).

Expert

Who we're looking for

  • Professionals, practitioners, or advanced students with relevant experience in construction, engineering, planning, or oversight.
  • People comfortable evaluating public works against basic standards of completion, quality, and functionality.
  • Individuals who can communicate findings clearly and neutrally, backed by evidence.

Qualifications (required)

  • 18 years or older.
  • Relevant background in at least one of: civil engineering, architecture, urban planning, construction management, public policy, or a closely related field; or meaningful field experience with public works.
  • Willingness to follow OVOVTEC's non-partisan, evidence-first guidelines.

Qualifications (preferred)

  • Prior experience reviewing, auditing, or monitoring infrastructure or public projects.
  • Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, or community organizations.
  • Comfortable documenting findings with photos, videos, and structured written reports.

Short essay questions

Please prepare short answers (200–400 words each) to the following:

  • Describe your relevant background and experience. How does it prepare you to assess public construction projects?
  • Share an example where you identified a quality, safety, or compliance issue in a project or organization. What did you do?
  • How would you balance being critical and fair when publishing a rating that may have real-world consequences?
